Wisconsin Literacy is a statewide not-for-profit organization that supports 70 adult, family, and workplace literacy agencies through resource development, professional development, information and referrals, training, and advocacy. Regional Vaccine Community Outreach Specialist Job Description
Wisconsin Health Literacy is hiring four Regional Vaccine Community Outreach (VCO) Specialist positions for a 3-year Covid-19 vaccination outreach and education project. Each VCO specialist will be located in a different region across Wisconsin: Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, or Southwest/South Central. Under the general direction of the Health Literacy Director and the VCO Project Manager, VCO Specialists will be part of a team that will design, test, implement, and manage Covid-19 vaccine outreach strategies across Wisconsin.  


  • Conduct Covid-19 vaccine community outreach including vaccine education sessions and finding reliable health information sessions.
  • Train local community organizations on health, digital, and science literacy to support local vaccination outreach efforts.
  • Guide vaccine outreach strategies by building partnerships with trusted community partners and organizations.
  • Assist in creating tailored resources for the local community such as infographics and videos.
  • Support local community organizations in data collection and reporting to evaluate success of activities.
  • Guide local community organizations in financial reporting and reimbursement requirements. 

Job-Specific Qualifications:  

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, communication, public administration, or experience providing health education.  
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.  
  • Experience working in underserved, rural, or urban communities.
  • Keen relationship in building skills and capacity of individuals and organizations.
  • Ability to multi-task and focus on priorities at hand.  
  • Sound organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Willingness, availability, and ability to travel occasionally within a region of the state, including overnight travel. 
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with creating infographics, videos, and social media content to build consumer engagement.

Hours: VCO specialist positions are 40 hours/week positions through June 30, 2024. 

Salary Range:  $48,000 to $52,000 annually
