Citizenship Instruction

The goal is to prepare learners for the naturalization test and interview, focusing on the 3 parts of the naturalization process:

  • United States government and history (100 questions)
  • English reading and writing (specific sentences)
  • Verbal English proficiency for the interview

Class instructors and volunteers should never help learners complete naturalization forms.  Have a list of certified and immigration support services in your area.

When it’s time to practicing for the interview, you might have learners bring the application they submitted to the government. Remember that applications will have very personal information about criminal history, family history, etc.
