Meet Jim from Jefferson County Literacy Council
Jim came to JCLC with basic sight word recognition and low-level reading skills. His goal was to improve his quality of life. He wanted to finally be able to write Christmas cards to his family and friends. After nine months, Jim’s volunteer tutor helped him reach his goal of writing and sending out cards to 20 family members and neighbors in his senior living complex. Another year has now passed and Jim’s reading level has increased to fifth grade comprehension. He is extremely pleased and proud of his progress.
