Khao came to the United States three years ago from a Laos refugee camp. Khao, a wife and mother, studies full-time for her GED, works a full-time second shift job, and meets with her Literacy Council tutor Mary Ann for two hours each week. Mary Ann has helped Khao better understand English, study for the U.S. citizenship test (Khao now knows the 100 citizenship questions to a T!), and is currently helping Khao study for the GED tests.
